The Cast / AI-Assisted Work
about.
The Cast started with a simple observation: making friends as an adult is surprisingly hard. Dating apps exist. Networking apps exist. But nothing was designed specifically to help people build a real, recurring friend group, the kind you see in every great sitcom. I designed and built the full product using AI as a collaborator, directing every decision from the core concept to the final screen. The result is a fully working app with a clear loop: Discover → Join → Meet → Repeat.

challenge.
Social apps have a trust problem. People are skeptical, guarded, and tired of platforms that keep them scrolling instead of actually getting out. The challenge was designing an experience warm and human enough to make someone take the leap and show up while keeping it simple enough that nothing gets in the way. The brand also had to do a lot of work: it needed to feel nostalgic and playful, like a modernized 90s sitcom, without feeling gimmicky. Every detail, the color palette, the copy, the interaction design had to earn that feeling.

results.
The Cast launched as a fully functioning prototype covering the complete user journey: onboarding, interest selection, plan discovery, event detail, join requests, group chat, post-event ratings, notifications, and profiles. The brand identity uses warm cream, deep teal and mustard yellow, pulled from 90s sitcom culture and made the app feel instantly recognizable. It demonstrated what's possible when a designer leads with a strong concept and uses AI to close the gap between idea and finished product.
